AWARDING THE PRIZES 2008 PDF Print E-mail

The academy’s prize-award ceremony was held on 25th September 2008, in Verona, in the concert hall of Casa Boggian, a detached branch of the Academy of Music "E.F. Dall'Abaco".

The award ceremony was very simple, with a warm family atmosphere. The President of the "Francesco Geminiani Prize Association" personally gave away the prizes – musical instruments - to the winners, who immediately tried them thereby showing how enthusiastic they were.

Their happiness was highly contagious: the ceremony turned into a small party, where all those present tried to make themselves heard while talking and playing together.

This enthusiastic confusion was the biggest reward the organisers and the collaborators of the prize could receive for all the work they had done.

After the prize awards there was a short press conference with many journalists and operators from local television channels.

The vice-president of the Association, Maestro Umberto Forni, explained to all those present the aims and objectives of the Prize and the circumstances leading to its creation. The co-promoters, Mr Giuseppe Perinigo, Director of the "Zanotto Foundation", and Mr Marco Ferrarese, manager of the Verona Business Area of the "Banca Popolare di Verona", spoke after him and, like him, were greatly impressed and deeply moved by the happy atmosphere of the day.

The music Maestros Piero Bosna and Alberto Martini, as well as the Lutist Giovanni Lazzaro, attended the ceremony and gave the young musicians lots of advice on how to use their prizes in the best way.
